On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, NFM Lending branch MD268 represented NFM Lending at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), to welcome home U.S. troops returning home from service overseas. The event was coordinated by Operation Welcome Home Maryland, an organization which greets service members returning home to the U.S. every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year. Volunteers decorate the airport, distribute “goodie bags,” and help returning service members with their bags.
Branch Manager Bryan Harrison attended the event along with branch members Jim Viennas, Amy Fichter, and Rozilyn Kim.
“It was truly an amazing experience,” said Rozilyn Kim. Words could never do justice to seeing the faces of the soldiers and families as we welcomed home those who served over seas. Every embrace took my breath away, and brought me back to the reality of what freedom really costs. It is an experience I intend to repeat in the future.”
“It was truly a humbling experience and I was so privileged to be around these young men and women that are protecting our country and freedom,” said Jim Viennas. “Words can’t express the experience of being there to assist these soldiers who were so appreciative of all the volunteers who greet and assist them when they arrive to the USA.”
NFM Lending began participating in Operation Welcome Home in August 2016, as part of the NFM Salute – an initiative which honors a Veteran or service member each month, and donates to a military or Veteran charity in the honoree’s name. NFM Lending is proud to support this organization which supports our troops, and looks forward to participating in many more Operation Welcome Home events in the future.
